Enforcement & Business Forums in Namanga, Kajiado County, 28th February and 1st March 2018

The Agency will be interacting with the government officials and later business and community leaders through 2 forums in Namanga, Kajiado County, on 28th Feb and 1st March respectively. It is believed that most of counterfeit products make their way into the Kenyan market through the porous borders. To this end the Agency has prioritized the sensitization of border officers to facilitate the effective enforcement of the Anti-Counterfeit Act, 2008 which prohibits trade in counterfeit products. The Namanga outreach marks the commencement of such activities focusing on the major border points in the country, in the renewed spirit of fighting counterfeits in heeding to the call by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Kenya, Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta, CGH; to destroy counterfeits on seizure. Combating counterfeiting is a crucial enabler towards the big four agenda of the government, and the forums will go a long way in strategizing for border action.

The objective of the Namanga forums is to increase the level of awareness of the Agency, its operations and build capacity of the enforcement officers in and within the vicinity of the border. It is through sharing experiences related to the enforcement of the various mandates on illicit trade, counterfeiting included that the area and the entire country can benefit and profit from legitimate business. The forum is also expected to help formulate the best model for inter - agency collaborations at the one stop border points towards curbing counterfeiting.
