Suspected Counterfeit Gypsum Board Operation Uncovered In Juja - Goods Worth Ksh. 936,000 Seized

Juja, Nairobi County | 6 May 2025 - The Anti-Counterfeit Authority (ACA), in coordination with the National Police Service and other enforcement agencies, has uncovered an illegal operation involving counterfeit gypsum boards in Juja A total of 520 gypsum boards are falsely branded as HADA GYPSUM BOARDS, valued at Ksh. 1,200,000 were confiscated.
The enforcement action followed a complaint by Edermann Property Limited, the registered owner of the HADA brand, concerning the suspected circulation of counterfeit products in the market. The investigation focused on WISEFIX ENTERPRISES LIMITED, located near Woodland School along Gathundo Road.
Inspectors Mark Omedo and Manasse Pyeko led the operation, where boards bearing unauthorized "Décor board" stickers were found. The counterfeit products differed from authentic HADA GYPSUM BOARDS, which are sold with pre-glued dark blue stickers. The seized items were marked with light blue or similar stickers manually applied using glue.
The confiscated goods were transferred to the ACA depot in Athi River, Machakos County, for further examination and appropriate handling.
The ACA advises businesses and consumers to remain alert and report any suspected counterfeit goods through official channels to support the protection of intellectual property and legitimate trade.
