Awards given to individuals, Manufacturers and Intellectual Property Right Owners

In recognition of the valuable role played by various stakeholders, the Agency held it’s first of its kind awards to various categories of stakeholders during the commemoration of this year’s World Anti-Counterfeit Day. The winners who included organizations, companies and individuals were announced in Nairobi on June 26th 2018 at the Laico Regency Hotel.

The awards included a souvenir and a letter of recognition signed by the Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Trade, Industry and cooperatives for their individual contribution in the war against counterfeits in Kenya. The winners (details in attached in extra-reporting on this site) announced are:

3. Association Award for Anti-Counterfeiting
Kenya Association of Manufacturers. Honored for “Outstanding Support in Combating Counterfeiting”.

4. Manufacturer Award
East African Cables Ltd Honored for time tasted partnership and supporting the Agency in awareness and enforcement activities

Mrs. Agnes Karingu, the Manager, Education and Public Awareness at the Agency who doubled up as the Chairlady of the Committee to commemorate the World Anti-Counterfeit Day said “We want to recognize everyone for your co-operation with the Agency, however we will award some organizations and individuals for their exceptional support to the Agency in this war. I am especially impressed once again with the emphases on both co-ordination between the public and private sectors and the importance of raising public awareness that was evident in many of the nominations.”

The Principal Secretary, State Department of Trade who was the Chief Guest said: “These recognitions will go a long way towards fostering greater collaboration with the agency. Counterfeiting each and every one and requires a concerted and appreciative attitude. We salute you for your commitment to tackling IP infringement, and they deserve congratulations on their recognition.”
