The Anti-Counterfeit Agency was recently awarded the internationally-recognized ISO 9001:2015 Certification award during the World Anti-Counterfeit Day 2018 commemoration on the 28th June 2018 at the Laico Regency Hotel Nairobi. The certification recognizes the Agency’s commitment to offer world-class quality service and to operate and implement a Quality Management System based on the ISO 9001:2015 system.

The ACA road map towards the launch involved trainings, validation processes, and intense internal and external audits. To hand over the certificate on behalf of SGS was the Managing Director, Mr. Albert Stockell and in his address to the guests said, “We are here to officially hand over a certificate issued in recognition of ACA’s quality management system which has been assessed by SGS and found to be in conformity with the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 standards”.

The event was attended by the Principal Secretary, State Department of Trade, Dr. Chris Kiptoo, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives. He was accompanied by the Principal Secretary, State Department of Industry, Mrs. Betty Maina and the Chairlady, Kenya Association of Manufacturers, Mrs. Flora Mutahi in the public–private sector interactive symposium.
Over 300 participants drawn from government agencies involved in Intellectual Property protection like Kenya Revenue Authority, Kenya Bureau of Standards as well as the private sector led by the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) graced the event.

In his speech read on behalf of the Cabinet Secretary Mr. Adan Mohammed, the principal Secretary Dr. Kiptoo appreciated the hard work and commitment that was put in by the staff of the agency towards the certification. He also emphasized on the certification acting as a guide for fulfilling ACA’s mandate towards elimination of counterfeits in the country.

The Executive Director, Mr. Elema Halake reiterated on the need for streamlined operations in public service. He dedicated the award to staff of the Agency who had made it possible.
