Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) Honored by ACA for Outstanding Support in Combating Counterfeiting

Meeting brought together participants drawn from the public and private sector involved in combating counterfeits in the country.

On June 26th, 2018, the Anti-Counterfeit Agency brought together government agencies, manufacturers, business leaders, and policymakers to commemorate the World Anti-Counterfeit Day and specifically to honor certain sections of her stakeholders that have made outstanding contributions towards the delivery of her mandate. KAM was among the select categories acknowledged at this prestigious event, and honored for “Outstanding Support in Combating Counterfeiting”.

According to the Principal Secretary, State Department of Trade, Dr. Chris Kiptoo, “Manufacturing is one of the key drivers of the Kenyan’s economy, and is touted to grow up to 15% of Kenya ’s gross domestic product in the Government’s Big Four Agenda. He said that the Kenya Association of Manufacturers has demonstrated a long-term dedication towards growing Kenya’s manufacturing and continues to support the government in this agenda. “We are pleased to recognize KAM’s collaboration with the Anti-Counterfeit Agency and their effort in the fight against counterfeits”

While receiving the Award, the Chairlady of Kenya Association of Manufactures, Mrs. Flora Mutahi said “We were so happy to receive this recognition and want to dedicate it to our members and employees and say thank you to them for the continued support. Thank you also to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives for continued support of this very important sector of the Kenyan economy”.

The World Anti-Counterfeit Day 2018 was also attended by Principal Secretary, State Department for Industry, Mrs. Betty Maina among other guests. The recognition is an indication that the state values the manufacturing sector in its service delivery.
